They cancelled my July 29 reservation on July 26 for no reason other than we "overbooked". This left me stranded with a trip with 12 people and was unable to get a vehicle on such short notice. I will post as many negative reviews as possible to make sure no one ever rents from AVR again.
Well, I am still waiting for a representative to contact me regarding my reservation on July 21, 2017. When I arrived, I was told "Sorry, we don't have a van for you and your 4 children." "I see your reservation but due to some glitch you are out of luck." I have NEVER experienced this lack of professionalism in my life. Still waiting for someone to try to do some damage control. I will NEVER recommend your company and will tell anyone I know to stay FAR FAR AWAY.
This was the second time I rented with AVR. Last time they did not have my van so I called a day before to ensure they had it on hand. Their assurances were useless when the next day they did not have my van citing an overdue return. They have zero margin and blamed their corporate reservation system. One young man did everything he could but I and my party of 15 were still delayed an hour and didn't receive the correct van until that evening. Good rates but completely unreliable.
It was fast and easy to rent the van I used.
I waited 27 minutes for a pickup. I called repeatedly. I was told that the "van would be there shortly". Then I was told the van had "limited seating". That was the "problem". You shouldn't advertise "7 to 9 minutes" for a pickup if you can't do that. It "threw" our schedule off. We had hoped to be on the road earlier. Our grandchildren sleep well while the car is moving. It sounds crazy, but we missed our "window" for their sleeping in the car. Try and improve on what you promise.

The staff at both pick-up and drop-off locations were not very knowledgeable about the process. I waited a long time at both ends. However, the staff at the pick-up location were lovely (Portland), and a member of the staff at the drop-off location (Colorado), gave me a ride to my car. I appreciated the attitude of the employees, but thought the price of picking up in Portland and dropping off in Denver was extremely excessive and it was a complicated process.
It took nearly 2 hours to get our van. When we did get it, it had to be pulled from the line and was not washed or cleaned, and then when we returned it we were charged a $99 excessive cleaning fee! In addition, no one knew how to complete the additional Mexican Travel Insurance, and when someone finally did, it was at a different rate from what the website listed (which was still ridiculously high). Our van had nearly 100,000 miles on it. I will NEVER rent from AVR again. It was horrible.
Highly impressed with the entire staff! Very pleasant group of people. Will definitely rent from here again!!!!!
The van had many dings and dents. Our agent was great at marking all of them off but we booked this months ago and I thought we would have a nicer vehicle for the price we paid.
