The car we were upgraded to was brand new, but the navigation system wasn't up to date. It didn't have addresses in it, or restaurants that we knew was there. Got us lost more than once. Including the day we were to return it when looking for a gas station. I called Routes to let them know we were gping to be late returning the car and why, they didn't charge us extra. And they made a note in the system to take it back to the dealership to get the navigation system looked at.
Although we were a little scared as the online comments were not too good, we had a very good experience with them. It looked as if they were aware of the bad reviews online and were trying to improve them as much as possible. However, a better car was available for us when we arrived there and the documents were done pretty fast. They even accommodated us at no extra charge to pick up the car 1 hour earlier. Overall, it was a good experience, but they could be friendlier.
My flight was late. I was scrambling around all afternoon, running from plane to plane. I did not have time to call and make sure you would hold a car for me. When I arrived and tried to pick up the car it was gone and there were no other cars available. You neither called me nor emailed me to check in. My flight number was on the reservation, someone could have easily looked to see that the flight was delayed. The person I spoke with was rude, unapologetic and did not seem to care. NEVER AGAIN.
I had reserved a compact car but when I got there, they told that system shows a mid-size SUV and they gave me a Jeep wrangler which I was not happy about since the car drives and burns gas like a tank. At the time, I forgot to show them my confirmation email, which showed that I had reserved a compact. They were not willing to downgrade me to a compact. I wasn't charged extra though.
