Greenwich Village is a primary residential neighborhood on the Lower West Side of Manhattan, New York. The area is small, stretching below the 14th Street area, and known for its Bohemian and unique styles. Residents to the area usually refer to it as simply "The Village." The street layout of Greenwich Village is somewhat oddly designed, reflecting that of its 19th century grid plan. Streets are narrow and run at odd angles. Much of the Greenwich Village area has been elected as a historical landmark. Head down to Broadway and visit Martin Lawrence Galleries. The Gallery is filled with great pieces from the likes of Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and many other of the world's top artists. It is sure to be enjoyed by the art enthusiast.
Though not as big or nearly as impressive as Central Park, the Washington Square Park is a must-see stop during your visit. Chess is often played in the park, and you can try your hand at the game on the southwest corner of the park against other players. The Arch is also a popular spot for visitors to the park, as is the amazing Fountain on the northern edge of the park. Many other commemorative statues are located inside of the 1,900 acre park.
