Greenwich Village is a primary residential neighborhood on the Lower West Side of Manhattan, New York. The area is small, stretching below the 14th Street area, and known for its Bohemian and unique styles. Residents to the area usually refer to it as simply "The Village." The street layout of Greenwich Village is somewhat oddly designed, reflecting that of its 19th century grid plan. Streets are narrow and run at odd angles. Much of the Greenwich Village area has been elected as a historical landmark. Unlike other areas in Manhattan, Greenwich Village's architecture is unique with its history of the 19th century reflected in homes and businesses in the area. Many of New York City's most prestigious schools are located in the Village area, including the New York School of Law.
If you happen to be in the area for Halloween, the Village Halloween parade is a must see. Not only is it the second largest Halloween parade in the US, it is also so much fun! Thousands of people are in attendance during the parade.
