Generally speaking the problem with the company was slow service and distance from the airport - the advertised location of rental was that the car would be picked up at the airport - not the case. I waited for 20 minutes while the ride arrived and then was taken to an off site location where I waited about 30 minutes before being acknowledged. In fact I was at the counter and a second person came in - the attendant ignored me and began assisting the second individual.
The people from the office charged us over twice the amount we had seen offered online. The numbers in their computer didn't add up to the total number they wanted to charge us. Never again will I rent from here.

Scammers. They use a mandatory daily insurance to triple the quoted rate.
Rate quoted was multiplied by three when a mandatory insurance was applied. SCAM!!

The Quote was for $38.73 however when they got me to there location they tried to charge me $320 then I told them to take me back to airport and I'll get one that I had as a backup from Hertz for $108.00 they would not take me back to the airport, a considerable distance from there rental location and after 1hr. or so I ended up paying $200 for the car. The Car had something wrong with it because it would not start unless you waited about 15 min or longer after you shut it off to start again.
We were forced into getting the collision insurance after explaining that our credit card would be covering those expenses. The van we were given was a dirty full size van instead of the mini van we had reserved. We were told the van would be exchanged but it took 2 full days and instead of dropping it off or meeting us we were made to return to the rental office. The minivan did not have a drop of gas and we barely made it to the gas station. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RENT FROM AMERICAN RENTAL!!!!!!!

Thieves/Dishonest/Greedy/Unprofessional. They did not pick me up from the promised place and caused inconvenience/ delay. The quoted rate was not honored. The promised vehicle was not given. A junky and run down vehicle with 60,000 miles (bumpy due to wheel damage) was given instead. I would never ever rent from them again or recommend any one to rent from them. They lied on insurance and premium on the base quote despite a firm email. At the end they further took unproportional money for 1 day
