Liberia is a Costa Rican town located 215 kilometers from the capital San Jose. There are more than 35,000 people living in Liberia, a town that is a pass through area for many tourists. Many visitors use Liberia as an overnight stop to get to other nearby destinations in Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Visitors utilize the Daniel Oduber International Airport, which is located six kilometers from the city center, for their flights out of Liberia. Liberia is often referred to as "la ciudad blanca," or the white city, and is a small and friendly town much like other Costa Rican towns.
