Located in Northern Illinois, Schaumburg is a village located 30 miles from Chicago. There are 75,836 people residing in the area. The world headquarters of Motorola are located in the city, and one of two IKEA stores located in the state of Illinois. The area was incorporated into a city on March 7, 1956, but the history of the city dates back much farther than that, when the area was inhibited by several native American tribes. Schaumburg was originally called Sarah's Grove. Visitors to the city can get around using Metra's Milwaukee District/West Commuter Line. The rail serves the greater Schaumburg area, including Chicago. One STAR line is also available to transport around the city. Another great choice is a car rental, if you're looking for more flexible transportation.
