Panama City is the capital of the Republic of Panama. It is also the largest city in the country, with a total metropolitan population of more than 1,000,000 residents. Panama City is located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal. Thus, the city is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and a rain forest. The area has been considered as one of the top places for retirement, and a great number of residents of the city are retirees. The city is served by the the Tocumen International Airport, serving both domestic and international flights. Rain is predominant in the city, with as much as 1900 inches of accumulation every year. Temperatures in Panama City are consistent throughout the year, with the average temperatures in the 90 degree mark.
