The Fort Lauderdale International Airport has gift shops for you to stop in before or after your flight. There are also several retail shops that sell everything from clothing and books to electronics and kids’ toys. There are several snack stands and a few restaurants, offering everything from hot coffee and pastries to full dinners and cocktails.

The airport has business amenities for business travelers. There’s a notary and copy machine as well as a place to purchase stamps and travel insurance. The Business Service Center can be found in the pre-security area of each terminal. Free Wi-fi is also available throughout the entire airport.

Need to charge your cell phone while you wait for your flight? There are charging stations located in the post-security area of Terminal 1. Sit, plug in and wait while your cell recharges.

Head to the Terminal Tunes Showcase to listen to music live. There are all types of bands, from blues and jazz to Latin and rock.

Outside of Terminal 1 is the Sunny View Sitting Area. There are benches and tables where you can picnic while waiting for your flight.

If you’re traveling with your pet, there are Pet Relief Areas where you can take your pup for a stroll. Outside of the terminals on the lower level are areas that are safe for walking dogs. There are also doggie bags and garbage receptacles in the area.

To get a quick massage before boarding your flight, there are massage chairs located in Terminal 1, both before and after security.

Long Layovers

If you have a long layover in Fort Lauderdale, you’ll want to prepare ahead of time. The Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL) does not have a hotel or rooms for passengers who have to stay overnight. Luckily, there are several hotels located within just a few miles of the airport, many of which have complimentary shuttles that run to and from the airport. Or, you can phone around for a cheap FLL car rental to take to a hotel in the surrounding area.

If you need to stay in the airport overnight for just one night, guests are allowed to sleep in the pre-security waiting area. Note that you cannot stay in the concourse overnight.
