One of the busiest airports in the world, John F. Kennedy International (JKF) is the gateway to the Big Apple and all its glory. Operated by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, JFK has eight terminals with a free air train connecting them. Major projects have included the Bay Runway, built under the Port Authority’s Environmental Initiatives program which encapsulates the airline’s determination to improve their level of service while addressing its impact on climate, air quality, energy and ecosystems. The airport strives to be an environmental steward in sustainability.

New York City is of course one of the most popular destinations in the world with a list of sites too amazing to number here. It may be a 20 minute drive to Manhattan via cheap car rental, but JFK is also a hop, skip and jump from Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island. Shops:  What better way to kill time than to shop!  JFK is laden with great shops, boutiques, toy stores and newsstands.  For those who want to burn a whole in their wallet, be sure to visit Bulgari, Cartier, Mont Blanc and Salvatore Ferragamo.  If you would like to pamper yourself then go to the L'Occitane kiosk and purchase some pampering creams and perfumes.  For those of you traveling with children, be sure to drop into the Toy Store, where your little ones are sure to be entertained.

Ground Transportation: The transportation system at JFK ranges from rail to helicopters. AirTrain is a free service and one of the easiest ways to travel within and around the JFK International Airport. This system offers connections with MTA New York City Transit subways, the Long Island Rail Road and buses. The subway station in Howard Beach JFK is connected to New York's subway and commuter rail system by AirTrain. It stops at all terminals, parking lots, hotel shuttle areas and cheap car rental lots.
