Winnipeg U-Drive Rent-A-Car Policies & Insurance

All drivers must meet our minimum age requirements, present a valid photo drivers license and credit card in his/her own name. All location policies that apply to the renter will also apply. Up to 3 additional authorized drivers are permitted. Authorized drivers must appear at the rental counter with the primary driver.

Additional driver fee: $ 5.95 per day per additional driver.

Vehicles may be returned after hours, a secure drop box is located on the side of the building to deposit keys and rental agreement. There is a one-time fee of $15.00 for after hours drop off. Final receipts are forwarded via Email. SHUTTLE SERVICE IS NOT PROVIDED AFTER NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS.

Drivers must be 18 years of age or older. Drivers between the ages of 18 - 24 will be charged an additional $5.95 per day. Drivers between the ages of 18-24 are not permitted to drive Premium, Luxury, Mini-van, SUV or Truck class vehicles. Winnipeg U-Drive reserves the right to refuse rental of a vehicle, if the renter demonstrates inability to handle road rules and conditions.

UPON ARRIVAL PLEASE PROCEED TO ANY TAXI SERVICE, FOR COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE TO THE WINNIPEG U-DRIVE OFFICE. THE FARE IS INCLUDED IN YOUR RENTAL RATE. NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THE SHUTTLE SERVICE. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 48 hours before scheduled pickup will result in an $85 CAN fee.

Cash may only be used as a form of payment. Cash deposits are not accepted. You may need a credit card to guarantee a reservation.

The Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) can be added at the time of rental for $2.95 per day plus taxes. Rate includes a one time $15 policy fee per rental.

Winnipeg U-Drive provides the renter and authorized driver(s) a way to waive any responsibility for loss or damage to the rental vehicle, through the purchase of the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).
Down-time is also waived when purchasing the Collision Damage Waiver. (A vehicle that is rented then damaged would result in the renter paying for the vehicle each day thereafter until repaired).
If additional coverage is declined at the time of rental, most rates come free with a $500 deductible per occurrence, and NO coverage for down-time.
The CDW does not cover any other additional charges, surcharges or fees.
The renter is still responsible for all towing charges, lost keys, fuel services and tire replacements on the rental.

With purchase of the RMC, the renter and authorized driver(s) receive the Winnipeg Roadside Max Coverage, with; Free Lockout Service, Free Towing, Free Key Loss and Free Tire Replacement.

FREE LOCKOUT SERVICE; Lock your keys in the rental vehicle? No worries, Winnipeg U-Drive or Roadside Assistance will come unlock the vehicle free of charge.
FREE TOWING; If the rental vehicle is not drivable, Winnipeg U-Drive will tow the rental vehicle free of charge.
FREE KEY LOSS; Lost your key? No worries, Winnipeg U-Drive will replace the lost key free of charge.
FREE TIRE REPLACEMENT; Have a flat tire? No worries, Winnipeg U-Drive will replace or fix the tire free of charge.

The renter must leave a $300 pre-authorization deposit to guarantee a reservation or to rent a vehicle. The amount will be released at a later date. Credit Cards honoured are Visa, Master Card and American Express.

Debit may only be used as a form of payment. Debit deposits are not accepted. You may need a credit card to guarantee a reservation.

Drivers must have a full valid 5 class drivers license at the time of rental. Beginner licenses are not accepted. The drivers license must be valid for the entire rental period. International renters require drivers license in English or French or International Drivers license. All drivers must have a safe driving record.

All reserved rental days will not be refunded upon early return.

A separately stated normal energy recovery fee. Will be assessed at select Winnipeg U-Drive locations. The fee is imposed to offset energy costs related to our business. Where assessed, the fee will be included in the total price quoted at the time of reservation.

All lost or damaged equipment will be subject to a charge.

OPTION #1 BUY A TANK, The vehicle is rented with a full tank. You may purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental and bring the vehicle back with fuel at any level. Credit will not be issued for unused fuel.

OPTION #2 WE FILL THE TANK, The vehicle is rented with a full tank. You may bring the vehicle back full to avoid a charge or Payless will refuel your vehicle based on the miles driven or level of the tank. A refueling service fee will apply per gallon.

Vehicle must remain within 400 kilometers of the renting location, unless permission is otherwise granted at the time of rental and stated in writing on the rental agreement. Examples; Brandon, Kenora, Fargo, Grand Forks and Lake of the Woods are within 400 kilometers of the renting location and permission would be granted. The Pas, Thompson, Minnesota are examples that would not be granted permission. Vehicle may not exceed 3000 kilometers per rental. Violation of any restriction will result in a kilometer charge of .45 per kilometer from kilometer 1 for the duration of your rental.

Vehicles are rented on a daily (24 hour) basis. After 24 hours, a full-day charge will apply. Rates are subject to change if vehicle is not returned on the date and time agreed upon at time of reservation and rental.

You must notify Winnipeg U-Drive within 24 hours of the accident, and you will likely be required to complete an accident report for Winnipeg U-Drive's records and your own.

Any rental of less than 24 hours will be charged a full day's rate. If a rental is returned earlier then the expected due back date, no refund will be issued.

No charge for vehicles drop-offs between Winnipeg U-Drive Rent-A-Car locations in renting city. Charges may apply when dropping off outside of the renting city.

Winnipeg U-Drive Rent-A-Car accepts the following methods of payment: Debit Card, VISA, Master Card, AMEX, Cash. Full payment will be required at return.

PLC protects you in the event of accidental death or bodily injury for the duration of the rental. Your passengers will also be covered, but only while they are entering, occupying or leaving the car.

At Winnipeg U-Drive all rates come free with Personal Liability Coverage.

Winnipeg U-Drive holds the renter responsible for the safe return of the rental vehicle in the same condition as it was rented, except for normal wear and tear.

Be sure any estimated damage to the vehicle has been recorded properly before leaving the rental location.If any new damage is found on the vehicle when returned that is not shown on the rental agreement, the customer will be deemed responsible and will be charged for the damage.

If the vehicle is returned damaged Winnipeg U-Drive has the authority to pick the repair shop of choice. The renter will be responsible to pay the full amount of damage to Winnipeg U-Drive unless a deductible or additional coverage is applied to the rental.Unless prohibited by law, a renter may be held responsible for all damages, including loss of use, should the vehicle be damaged in an accident, stolen or vandalized. Whether who is at fault in the accident, the renter may be asked to pay for the damage up to and including the total cost of replacing the vehicle in case of a total wreck or loss.

Road Side Assistance is available to the renter 24/7. If you get a flat tire, lock your keys in the car or simply have mechanical problems with the car, call road side assistance and they will be glad to help you for no charge!Road Side Assistance (R.S.A) will not cover the cost of any damage to vehicle. (Tires, wheels, lost keys, damage)
