NU Car Rentals - Australia Policies & Insurance

NU Car Rentals service is provided in co-operation with Red Spot Rentals in Australia. Our counters are located in the Arrival Hall of the Mackay Airport and our operating hours are from Monday through Sunday - 08:00 to 20:00. No shuttle is required as vehicles are located within walking distance of the Terminal. Contact numbers are on the key rings of the vehicle.

All cars are insured. The Renter is given the benefit of this coverage subject to the conditions of the rental. There is a standard Collision Damage Liability of $3300 AUD. This may be reduced to $330 AUD by paying an extra $22 AUD per day. Alternatively you can reduce it to $0 for $27.50 AUD per day. This CDW is optional. Renters are reminded that any single vehicle damage to include overhead, underbody, interior, windscreen, tires or mechanical, howsoever caused is always at the renters risk. There is no coverage unless the rental car is driven on sealed, maintained roads. If vehicle is taken onto non designated and remote areas, coverage is void and null.

Baby seats and Satellite Navigation Units are available for $11 AUD per day. These may be requested at the time of rental, but are based on availability and may not be guaranteed. A $400 AUD will be charged for lost or damaged GPS units.

All vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel. A refueling surcharge will apply if the tank is not full upon return of the vehicle. The surcharge varies at different locations.

One way rentals are available upon request. Drop fees will apply.

Rental vehicle may be driven into New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland. However, restrictions may be placed on certain remote areas and regions for which written approval of the renting location is required. Vehicles may be driven into Tasmania; however, pre-approval and surcharges apply.

Renters must be at least 21 years of age and possess a major credit card and valid driver's license. Renters age 21-25 are subject to a underage driver's fee of $22.00 per day. The driver's license must be valid for a period of two years. must be valid for a period of two years. Additional drivers are permitted but will be required to pay an additional fee of 3.30AUD per day plus tax and must meet the same qualifications as the primary driver.

At certain times of the year it will be necessary to provide a credit card guarantee in order to reserve a car. Certain car types may require a credit card guarantee year round. If your reservation requires a credit card in order to book, please be sure to cancel at least 48 hours in advance in order to avoid any cancellation fee. This fee compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle while it was reserved for your use. Reservations MUST be cancelled through the original booking source.

All renters must present a current and valid credit card in his or her own name at the time of rental. We accept MasterCard, American Express, Visa, JCB and Diners Club. A bond authority between $100.00 to $1000.00 AUD - depending on the location, type of vehicle, and chosen liability level - will be held for the duration of the rental. Cash and debit cards are accepted for rental charges as long as the required credit card bond authority has been made.

All quoted rental rates are in US dollars and payment will be made in AUD dollars. There are no refunds for early returns. Contact numbers are on the key rings.

NU Car Rentals provides a Car Rental Affiliate Reservation System and acts as an Agent for the convenience of You, the customer and the local owned and operated rental car firm. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location.
