DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

America Car Rental requires the following documentation to offer the service:
• Minimum age to drive is 23 years old and the maximum age is 75 years old (20 to 22 years
old must pay an under age fee of $10 per day).
• Present the original driving licence. Photographs of the driving licence, expired licenses, or
licenses in bad condition are not allowed.
• Official identification in case of being a foreigner, present a valid passport and the stamp
of entry to the country.
• Personalised credit card with the full name of the cardholder (unexpired card, legible
credit card numbers, Apple card with its number for verification).
• The car rental is paid at the beginning.
• Security deposit must be by credit card only and presented on the day of rental.

Methods of payment

For the security deposit a credit card only is requested. Credit or debit card and in exceptional
cases cash can be used for the rental payment.
Accepted cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Eurocard, Discover, JCB.


INSURANCE INFORMATION

Please note that Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Third Party Liability (TPL) are never included in
the rental price
All mandatory or zero deductible coverage is subject to Costa Rican traffic laws, as well as their
terms and conditions.

Collision Damage Waiver-CDW is a mandatory protection. In case of an accident the renter will
pay the deductible amount. Renter may decline CDW and use credit card or insurance policy by
presenting written proof of coverage stating type of vehicle covered-amount of coverage-valid
during dates of rental and leave a 3,000 US deposit. If CDW is declined purchase of TPL-0 is
required - Renter is responsible for all damage to rental vehicle-company pays liability. 3rd Party
and credit card coverage REIMBURSE you for damages to our vehicle. All damages must be paid by
the renter in full prior to leaving Costa Rica. You can file for reimbursement from your provider.
Third Party Liability- TPL is required at our company in case of an accident with a third party. The
renter will be responsible for 20 percent of total damages and the company pays 80 percent. If the
renter declines CDW then TPL-0 will be mandatory $45 US Dollars per day. If CDW is accepted
the deposit will be $1,200.00USD to cover the excess/renter responsibility per car type as shown
below.
We offer the following basic CDW and TPL: CDW is 25.00USD per day TPL. LDW $25.00 will
provide zero deductible protection for the renter.
These coverages are subject to rules for reporting and negligent driving as below.
In case of negligence any protection will be canceled and renter will be responsible and agree to
pay for all damages to the rental vehicle and third-party vehicles properties and persons involved
in the accident.
Negligence includes but is not limited to driving the vehicle across rivers-driving under the
influence of alcohol drugs or any other substance that may affect your ability to drive, drive over
the speed limit in Costa Rica (100 kilometers), a driver that is not authorized in the contract,
leaving the rental vehicle unattended- falling asleep while driving-ignoring traffic signals or police
or fire personnel- vandalism etcetera.
In case of accident the renter must present the transit police report and the insurance report for
coverage to be valid and effective. If not purchased, the renter is responsible for any service fees.
For this protection to be valid the renter must call CENTURION RENT A CAR at the time of accident
to present the accident report. If not reported or if coverage not purchased the renter will be fully
responsible for this damage.
In case of accident or breakdown please call us at (506) 4714-7624. After hours for an accident or
breakdown please call 911, ask for police presence. Then- call us at (506) 6487-1281 / (506) 6475-
5514 and we will assist you every step of the way.


SECURITY DEPOSIT

For the security deposit a credit card only is required, accepted credit cards: Visa, MasterCard,
American Express, Eurocard, Discover, JCB.
All vehicle rentals are required to leave a security deposit. $1,200 with basic coverage and $800
with zero deductible coverage.


CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be informed in writing and sent by email with no less than 24 hours notice.
If the client does not show up at the agreed place and does not inform us of the reason for the
delay, we will proceed to cancel the reservation and release the reserved vehicle. In case of noshow, the vehicle will be released for the next rental and there is no refund.
Free cancellation: up to 24 hours before arrival in the country.
If the reservation has a pre-payment 50% of the deposit will be charged for cancellation within
48 hours of arrival.


RESERVATION POLICY

The client will have one hour of grace and if the client sends his flight details he will have a grace
period of 2 hours from the pick up time indicated in his reservation, once the stipulated hours
have passed, it will be marked as NO-SHOW and the vehicle will be released, being already
available to be rented to another client.
Any reservation will be honoured if it has the confirmation indicating the category of vehicle, dates
of the rental, conditions of the reservation and form of payment.
**The minimum rental days are two days and maximum thirty days in a row, in case of rentals of
more days we proceed to make a new contract for the extension of the rental.


REFUND POLICY

In case of cancellation by the customer within the above-mentioned hours, no refund will be
considered. If there is a special request for reimbursement, the customer must send a letter
stating the reason or reasons of force majeure that prevented the trip and will be assessed for
reimbursement by Centurion rent a car management if applicable.


MILEAGE

Any rental longer than two days has no mileage restriction.


ADDITIONAL DRIVERS.

Additional driver costs $10 USD per day and must present a valid driving licence, be at least 23
years old and have a passport with entry stamp.


RETURN OF THE VEHICLE

Vehicles are delivered to the head office and must be returned to the same place, unless there is
an agreement with the customer on the time of delivery.
You have 3 hours to return the vehicle, after that time you will be charged from 3-4 hours half a
day's rental, after 5 hours you will be charged as an extra day, according to the average rate of the
rental contract.


RETURN OF THE VEHICLE IN ANOTHER STATE

Return to another state is not allowed, there is a charge in case of return to other than the agreed
point.


FUEL POLICY

Vehicles are delivered with a full tank of fuel and must be returned in the same manner.

All vehicles and components are checked with the customer to ensure that they are in good
condition and returned in the same condition.

ROAD ASSISTANCE

Road assistance is provided to all customers 24 hours a day by contacting us at the numbers
indicated in the contract or the insurance number (506) 2210-2490.


GEOGRAPHICAL RESTRICTIONS

All Centurion Rent a Car vehicles are not allowed to leave the national territory.


TOLLS AND FINES

The amount of tolls must be paid by the customer. In the case of fines these must be reported to
Centurion rent a Car and paid in the office if applicable.


ACCIDENTS & INCIDENTS

In the event of an accident or incident the customer should contact Centurion rent a Car for
assistance or contact the insurer at (506) 2210-2490.


Pick up Instructions

After clearing customs, exit the building and turn right, wait at gate 3. An representative will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it for easy location.
