For a Second/ Additional driver EUR4.00 plus airport of downtown taxes plus VAT taxes per day.
For rentals in category J/ Luxury Second the charges for a second driver are EUR5.50 + airport or downtown taxes + VAT per day. The road tax is to be paid locally: EUR5.11 per day.

To extend your contract, you must contact our US offices before the end of your original contract. Your extension will be calculated at the same daily rate as your original contract. If you do not contact the US office, your rate will be calculated at the local rate, which may be higher.

Baby seats, snow chains, and ski racks are available for a flat fee of €34+VAT each, payable in Italy. Please indicate if you need any of these in the comments box of your reservation.

Changes to itinerary are subject to a $25 change fee when the change requires a reissuance of the rental voucher.

Vehicles are prepaid and are fully refunded if canceled a minimum of seven days before pickup date. Mini-Vans and automatic vehicles will incur a no-show or late cancellation (less than seven days) penalty of $150. All other vehicles are assesed a $50 no-show or late cancellation fee.
For car rentals in category J/ Luxury, a EUR $208 + VAT taxes fee will apply when there is a no show or cancellation within 7 days prior to pick up date.

Unused days will be refunded if you request your refund from Car Italy within 30 days of return date. Rental rate will be recalculated with actual days used, plus one day.

If vehicle is returned early, the unused portion of the rental will be refunded after recalculating the rental rate for the new rental duration, plus one day (the dropoff day). Advance notice of rental duration changes will not incur a penalty.

One way rental in and between Sicily and the Mainland (except for rentals of 1 and 2 days which have a oneway fee) for Alpha Categories.

All cars are delivered with a full tank of petrol. A refundable deposit of €250.00 is blocked on the credit card at the start of the hire for possible missing petrol and traffic fines. The deposit will be unblocked if the car is returned with a full tank, otherwise a refueling charge of €13.00 plus VAT of 20% plus the cost of the missing fuel will be applied. Any traffic fines will be charged to the renter of the vehicle. The deposit will be unblocked if no damage to the vehicle occurred and if customer did not receive any traffic fines.

When returning the vehicle, there is a tolerance of 59 minutes after which one extra days rental (payable locally at our local rates) will be applied for alpha category cars. For numeric categories, the tolerance is 29 minutes.

Renters financial responsibility for the vehicle is zero Euro for all alpha categories (A-Z), €650 for 1/3, and €400 for 2/4/5 with included CDW and TLW protection. Personal Accident Insurance (Super PAI) is available at time of vehicle pickup for an additional charge.

Car rates for non-numeric categories are inclusive of a maximum of €2,600,000.00 per accident covering public liability, property, damage, fire and theft. Numeric categories are inclusive of a minimum of €1,000,000 in third party liability.

24 hour road side assistance is available in case of vehicle breakdown.

Money paid for oil, if any, will be refunded if a regular invoice, made out to Car Italy and Tours, is presented. No maintenance or repairs to the vehicle will be refunded unless prior authorization has been obtained (use road side assistance in case of mechanical breakdown).

Although every effort will be made to supply the car requested, we are not able to guarantee a particular model. If the model requested is unavailable, customers will be delivered a model from the same group. If a car from the same group is unavailable, customer will be supplied an upgrade at no additional cost.

Damage to windscreens, tires, roofs, undersides and interiors of cars are not covered by the car rental insurance, unless customer decide to purchase additional insurance. In any case, damages to the tapestry and the interior of the vehicle are not covered by any insurance.

In case of loss and/or damages and/ or theft of the vehicle documents the client will be liable for a charge of €50.00 + tax. In case of loss and/or damages and theft of the vehicles keys , the client is liable for a charge of €200.00 + VAT. In case of loss and/ or damages and/or theft of the vehicle registration plates, the client will be billed for the sum of € 360.00 plus tax
In case of loss and/or damages and/or theft of the GPS Navigation System the client will be liable for a charge of €500.00 + VAT.

- All numerical categories have a one way fee of €38,73 + VAT 20%, or if going to/from Sicily, €51,65 + VAT 20%.
Alpha categories:
- Alpha categories except cars in category J/ Luxury: One way rental in and between Sicily and the Mainland for rentals of 1 or 2 days: €41,67 + airport or downtown charges + VAT 20%. No charge for one way rentals of 3 or more days.
-For cars in category J/ Luxury €26,00 + Airport or downtown charges + VAT for a one way rental between Sicily and Mainland Italy or vice versa.
- One way rental in and between Sardinia and the Mainland Italy or Sicily: €230,00 + airport or downtown charges + VAT 20%

International Drivers Permits (IDP) is require. Please note there is no such thing as an International Drivers License. Contact your local automobile association to apply for an IDP.

*Nissan X trail 4x4 rentals are on request and only available in the Palermo, Rome an Milan.

Car Protection: If the customer chooses to issue the Car Protection supplement the Damage and Theft Penalty mentioned above will be included. The cost of the Car Protection is € 85.56 (€ 62,00 + Airport or downtown surcharge + 20% VAT) per day. *NOTE: Some parts of the vehicle will ,in every case , remain NOT INCLUDED IN THE CAR PROTECTION and IN THE RENTAL and therefore customer will be held responsible for those parts. THE NOT INCLUDED PARTS OF THE VEHICLE ARE: windshield, glasses in general, tyres, roof, underside of the vehicle, damages to tapestry and interiors; damages to mechanical part of the vehicle caused by negligence and careless driving which ARE NEVER INCLUDED IN THE CAR PROTECTION and IN THE RENTAL.
Besides the voucher, the clients must be in possession of a valid American Express, Diner’s Club or Visa Gold credit card.
Should the car papers be lost and/or stolen and/or damaged and/or theft a fee of €60,00 (€ 50,00 + 20% VAT) will be charged.
Should the car keys be lost and/or stolen and/or damaged and/or theft, a fee of €240, 00 (€ 200,00 + 20% VAT) will be charged.
Should the plates (or even just one of them) be lost and/or damaged and/or theft, a fee of €432,00 (€ 360,00 + 20% VAT) will be charged.

Minimum Age: 16

Age 16 to 24 - For groups A1/B/C/D/F, drivers must be at least 23 years of age and have held a full driving license for at least one year.

Age 25 to 26 -

Age 27 to 28 - For luxury car groups, the minimum age is 27, and have held a valid license for a minimum of three years.

The maximum age for rentals is 75.

No additional drivers permitted

A charge for a second/ additional driver applies. The amount of EUR4.00 plus airport or downtown taxes plus VAT taxes must be paid at the time of pick up for the second driver.

Vehicles may be driven to any EU country. Vehicles may not be driven in Albania, Bulgaria, Soviet States (except Russia), Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Eastern Europe, and Turkey.
