Payless Car Rental Policies & Insurance

All drivers must meet our minimum age requirements, present a valid photo drivers license and credit card in his/her own name. All location policies that apply to the renter will also apply.

Additional driver fee: $9.99 per day per additional driver.

ADDITIONAL DRIVERS / LOCAL RENTERS: Local renters are defined as those drivers who reside in the state of Florida and possess a Florida drivers license. Local/Florida renters must present proof of auto liability and physical damage insurance coverage including bodily injury and property liability. Proof should include the name and address of the insurer and the policy number. We can elect not to rent to you if you do not present the required proof of insurance coverage.

Additional Drivers who are not immediate family members of the renter residing at the same address, are subject to the same qualifications as the renter, including credit/debit card authorizations. (See keywords PAYMENT INFORMATION and LOCAL RENTER RESTRICTIONS)

Renter must be 25 years of age with a valid drivers license and a major credit card in his/her own name.

Renters 21 through 24 years of age with a valid drivers license and a major credit in his/her own name - add an additional $16.95 per day surcharge. Underage surcharge will not appear in total pricing.
Renters 21 through 24 years of age may rent Economy through Full Sized cars only.

If you do not purchase Collision Damage Waiver, you are responsible for all damage to the rented vehicle.

If you purchase Collision Damage Waiver, we will waive all, or a portion of, our right to collect from you for damage to the rented vehicle caused by collision or upset. The amount of your responsibility varies according to the type of vehicle you rent. We will not waive our right to collect for comprehensive losses such as fire, theft, vandalism, flood, hail, or acts of God. In addition there are other exclusions from Collision Damage Waiver. Please read the back of the Payless Rental Agreement for a complete list of exclusions.

CDW is optional. Your personal auto policy may cover damage to the rented vehicle, check with your insurer if you are uncertain. We can elect not to rent to you if you do not present proof of auto liability and physical damage insurance coverage.

$16.99 per day for all cars except MVAR, STAR, & SFAR at $19.99 per day.

Debit cards are accepted from renters 25 years of age or older. Must show proof of valid bodily injury and property liability at the time of rental. Debit cards are not eligible for the rental of SUVs, convertibles or other special equipment.

Eligible debit cards must have the Visa, Mastercard or Discover logo. Stored value / prepaid / gift cards are not acceptable to qualify for rental.

The estimated amount of the rental plus an additional amount of $500.00 will be assessed against your debit card at the time of rental. These funds will no longer be available for your immediated use and may take up to 14 days, depending on your bank, to become available. We will not be responsible for any returned check(s) or insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.

Rental must be in reservation name. Reservation may not be altered a the time of rental.

A confirmation of your reservation does not mean that your debit /check card is acceptable.

DEBIT CARD HOLD FOR LOCAL RENTERS: The estimated amount of the rental plus an authorization of $1,000.00 will be held against your debit card at the time of rental. All other debit card rules apply. (See keyword LOCAL RENTER RESTRICTIONS)

OPTION 1 BUY A TANK
Vehicle is rented with a full tank. Purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental, bring the vehicle back with fuel at any level. Credit will not be issued for unused fuel.

OPTION 2 WE FILL THE TANK
Vehicle is rented with a full tank. Bring the vehicle back full to avoid a charge or Payless will refuel your vehicle based on the miles driven or level of the tank. A refueling service fee will apply per gallon.

Use of the vehicle is restricted to the state of Florida. Violation of the restriction will result in a mileage charge of .30 cents per mile for each mile driven during the duration of your rental.

Rental is based on a 24-hour period. The client receives a 59-minute grace period. If he/she keeps the vehicle after this time, an hourly rate will apply from minute one.

It is the policy of Payless to have the confirmed vehicle available for calendar day of the scheduled arrival.

Liability Insurance protects you against claims for injury you cause to third persons or their property. Liability insurance does not cover injury to you or damage to the rented vehicle. State and Country laws determine whether your personal auto liability insurance or our liability insurance will pay for injuries you cause to others while driving our vehicle.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) You can purchase Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) at $12.49 per rental day. If you do, your liability coverage increases to as much as $1million combined single limit for each accident. This coverage greatly expands your liability protection, perhaps even beyond your own personal auto policy. Restrictions apply; ask for a copy of an SLI brochure at the rental counter.

PAC/PAI - $3.99 per day

Personal Accident Insurance: PAI provides certain life and medical benefits in the event of an accidental death and/or injury occurring during the rental. PAI coverage extends to the customer for the duration of the rental and to all passengers while entering, exiting and occupying the car.

Personal Effects Coverage: PEC provides limited protection for loss or damage to covered personal effects while such personal effects are in transit or in any hotel or other building en route during the rental period. Coverage applies to the customer and members of the customer's immediate family who permanently reside in the customer's household and are traveling with the renter.

- QUALIFICATIONS FOR RENTERS FROM COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES:
- Must have a valid drivers license from renters/drivers country of origin.
- Must have a valid passport
- Must have a valid international drivers license if the drivers license of origin is not in Roman alphabet.
- Must have proof of insurance - Payless requires written proof in English of liability insurance covering injury to third persons or their property and collision and comprehensive insurance covering any Payless vehicle while on rent. Written proof should include the name and address of the insurer and the policy number. If unable to provide proof of collision and comprehensive insurance a Collision Damage Waiver is available at a cost of $16.99 per day for Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard and Full Sized Cars, or $19.99 per day, for All other Vehicle Classes.

Roadside Assistance Program, October 1, 2008
If you purchase our Roadside Service Plan RSP we will waive all, or a portion of, the cost of a roadside assistance service call up to the amount of $125.00, per incident. You may purchase RSP at $2.99 per rental day. Benefits include emergency road service towing, winching, jump start, flat tire change, lockout service and emergency fuel delivery. Some restrictions apply; ask for a copy of an RSP brochure at the rental counter.

Tampa International Airport

Shuttle service provided to and from the airport. Courtesy phone located in baggage claim area. Proceed to Ground Transportation for shuttle pick up.

DISABLED DRIVERS - **Reservations to request disability equipment should be placed only by calling 1-800-PAYLESS**

Hand controls are provided at no additional charge however availability of special equipment must be verified before the reservation can be confirmed. If you require special equipment to operate the vehicle, please contact us at 1-800-PAYLESS. We will process your request and send a confirmation response within 72 hours after verifying availability with the renting location.

ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZED DRIVERS FOR VISION IMPAIRED RENTERS A traveling companion who will serve as a driver for the visually impaired renter will be authorized at no additional charge. Drivers must be at least 25 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Please advise the Payless representative of the companion driver at the time of rental. Both must be present at the time of the transaction.
