Payless Car Rental Policies & Insurance

Additional drivers must meet the minimum age requirements, present a valid photo drivers license and credit card in his/her own name. All location policies that apply to the renter will also apply.

Renter must be 25 years of age with a valid drivers license and a major credit card in his/her own name.

Renters 21 through 24 years of age with a valid drivers license and a major credit card in his/her own name add an additional $20.00 per day surcharge.

If you do not purchase Collision Damage Waiver, you are responsible for all damage to the rented vehicle.

If you purchase Collision Damage Waiver, we will waive all, or a portion of, our right to collect from you for damage to the rented vehicle caused by collision or upset. The amount of your responsibility varies according to the type of vehicle you rent. We will not waive our right to collect for comprehensive losses such as fire, theft, vandalism, flood, hail, or acts of God. In addition there are other exclusions from Collision Damage Waiver. Please read the back of the Payless Rental Agreement for a complete list of exclusions.

CDW is optional; your personal auto policy may cover damage to the rented vehicle. Check with your insurer if you are uncertain.

OPTION #1 BUY A TANK
Vehicle is rented with a full tank. Purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental, bring the vehicle back with fuel at any level. Credit will not be issued for unused fuel.

OPTION #2 WE FILL THE TANK
Vehicle is rented with a full tank. Bring the vehicle back full to avoid a charge or Payless will refuel your vehicle based on the miles driven or level of the tank. A refueling service fee will apply per gallon.

Use of the vehicle is restricted to the States of, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Violation of the restriction will result in a mileage charge of .29 cents for each mile driven during the duration of your rental.

Rental is based on a 24-hour period. The client receives a 59-minute grace period. If he/she keeps the vehicle after this time, an hourly rate will apply from minute one.

It is the policy of Payless to have the confirmed vehicle available during normal business hours for the calendar day of the scheduled arrival.

Liability insurance protects you against claims for injury or damage you cause to third persons or their property. It does not cover injury to you or damage to the rented vehicle. Payless vehicles are covered by policies of insurance that provide coverage up to the minimums prescribed by the financial responsibility laws of the State whose laws are applied if an accident occurs. This can be as low as $10,000.

If an accident occurs, either your personal auto insurance or the Payless liability insurance, or both of them, will pay the claim, depending on which State laws apply.

Local Renters must meet our minimum age requirements; present a valid photo drivers license and credit card in his/her own name and proof of transferable liability insurance. In addition local renters are subject to a mileage cap of 100 miles per day. Excess mileage is charged at .29 cents per mile.

One way rentals are not available. The vehicle must be returned to the renting location.

Credit Card Hold:
The estimated amount of the rental plus 10 % or a minimum of $150 will be authorized against your credit card at the time of rental.

Cash Rentals:
Cash rentals not accepted.
Cash is accepted for payment at the end of rental.

Debit Cards:
Debit Cards not accepted for qualification at time of rental.
Debit cards are accepted for payment at the end of rental.

Vouchers: Not Accepted

All drivers must meet the renting location's minimum age requirements, have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and present a major credit card in his/her own name at the time of rental. See also age, driver's license, driving records, and credit cards.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR RENTERS FROM COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES:
- Must have a valid drivers license from renters/drivers country of origin.
- Must have a valid passport
- Must have a valid international drivers license if the drivers license of origin is not in Roman alphabet.
- Payless requires written proof in English of liability insurance covering injury to third persons or their property and collision and comprehensive insurance covering any Payless vehicle while on rent. Written proof should include the name and address of the insurer and the policy number.

Shuttle service is provided to and from the airport. Upon arrival and after retreiving your baggage, please call location at for pick up.

Hand controls are provided at no additional charge however availability of special equipment must be verified before the reservation can be confirmed. If you require special equipment to operate the vehicle, please contact us at 1-800-PAYLESS. We will process your request and send a confirmation response within 72 hours after verifying availability with the renting location.

ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZED DRIVERS FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED RENTERS

A traveling companion who will serve as a driver for a visually impaired renter will be authorized at no additional charge. Drivers must be at least 25 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Please advise the Payless representative of the companion driver at the time of rental. Both must be present at the time of the transaction
