NU Car Rentals - Nicaragua Policies & Insurance

NU Car Rentals service is provided in co-operation with Targa Rent A Car. Upon arrival please proceed to our rental counter located in the airport. Cars are on site.

The purchase of liability protection (LDW) is mandatory and a requirement for rental. Coverage is USD$10.00/day for cars and USD15.00/day for trucks. This covers up to USD5,000.00 of medical expenses for one person or USD$10.000.00 for (2) or more people. Also covers $5,000.00 on property damages. Renter must provide a Police (Accident) Report.

Baby seats (for infants between 0-2 years) must be requested at time of booking. Charge is USD 2.00/day with a minimum charge of $10.00/rental. GPS is available upon request for a fee of $5.00/day - minimum charge of $25.00.

The rental car is provided with a full tank of fuel. Client must pay for differential fuel at $5.98/gallon.

One Way drops are not available.

The rental car is limited to the Central America Region. Renter must request the necessary permits and inspections for $120.00 USD. The insurance requirements differ for each individual country. Renter may be required to purchase additional coverage/insurance at the border, dependent on which country he is traveling to. Renter must begin the process of permits/inspections and pay the fee 3 days prior to rental. Unlimited mileage is only offered within the country of Nicaragua. Renter is only allowed to drive car on paved roads. Car coverage does not allow off road driving. Only 4X4 vehicles are covered for off road driving and may travel anywhere within Nicaragua. No vehicle is allowed to travel on severe road conditions or on the beach.

The minimum age for rental is 21, maximum 75. There is an additional fee for drivers between the ages of 21- 24 of $10.00/day plus taxes. All drivers must be on rental agreement at time of rental and meet all rental requirements.

At certain times of the year it will be necessary to provide a credit card guarantee in order to reserve a car. Certain car types may require a credit card guarantee year round. If your reservation requires a credit card in order to book, please be sure to cancel at least 48 hours in advance in order to avoid any cancellation fee. This fee compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle while it was reserved for your use. Reservations MUST be cancelled through the original booking source.

AMEX, VISA, MASTERCARD, and Diners Club are accepted. Debit cards and cash rentals are accepted ONLY as payment option at return of vehicle. May not use at time of Check In. Deposit will depend on car type. Personal checks are not accepted. If tank is not returned with a full tank of fuel a Refueling fee will be charged to the credit card. If reservation is not cancelled 24 hours in advance, a cancellation fee equal to one rental day rate will be charged to the credit card.

All quoted rates are in US Dollars and payments will taken in the local currency. A rental day consists of a 24 hour period commencing with the date and time indicated on the rental contract. Any changes to the reservation or rental may result in a change of rate or an additional fee. There are no refunds for early returns. If you require multiple vehicles for the same dates or overlapping periods, please make sure to use the actual name of the driver for each reservation. Otherwise the duplicate name reservations will be automatically cancelled. NU Car Rentals will not be responsible for any cancelled reservations. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location.
