NU Car Rentals - Mexico Policies & Insurance

NU Car Rentals offers 'Meet and Greet' service at the airport when valid flight details are received at time of booking. A NU Car Rental agent will be waiting for you outside the main entrance of the airport with a sign bearing your name. If you did not provide us with your flight details, please proceed to the Hotel Casa Grande located in front of the airport. Our rental desk is located in the main lobby. Vehicles are held for up to 2 hours after the flight details received.

It is required by law to purchase Mexico Liability Insurance in order to drive in Mexico. This coverage covers 3rd parties up to the amount of $10,000.00MXP and is included in the base rate. You may purchase SLI-Supplemental Liability Insurance for $14.00USD for cars and $17.00USD per day for vans and SUV's. This protection extends coverage of legal liability up to a maximum o $1,000,000.00MXP. Credit card coverage and damage waiver purchased on web sites are REIMBURSEMENT policies. If you wish to rely on your credit card or website insurance and not purchase LDW or the SLI supplement you must present written evidence of said coverage that it is valid in Mexico during the dates of your rental. A credit card deposit of $4000.00 USD for cars and $5000.00 USD for vans and SUVs will be required at the time of rental. The deposit will be refunded upon completion of the rental if there is no damage to the vehicle. If damaged you will be responsible for payment of any loss or damage to the vehicle prior to leaving the country. You may seek reimbursement from your Provider upon returning to your country of residence. Collision or Loss Damage Waiver - CDW, LDW is optional and available for $17.00 USD for cars and $29.00 USD for vans and SUVs per day plus tax. If the renter opts NOT to purchase NU Car Rentals CDW, he or she will be responsible for all damage to or loss of the rental vehicle. If the renter opts to purchase NU's CDW, they will only be responsible for up to 10% of the commercial value of the vehicle or in the case of theft or total loss of the vehicle, 20%. Should the renter violate any of the terms and conditions in the rental agreement, coverage is void. This deductible does not cover partial damage to the car or missing parts. Personal accident coverage which provides coverage to passengers in the rental car in case of an accident is $9.00 per day plus tax and is optional. PAC covers hospital expenses up to $35,000 USD in the event of an accident.

CSI -Infant Child and toddler seats are available upon request for 6.00 USD plus tax per day.

Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel. All vehicles must be returned with the same level of fuel in order to avoid a refuelling service fee of 20.00 USD plus 1.67 USD plus tax per litre. There is no reimbursement for differences of fuel.

One way rentals are not available.

Rental cars are not permitted to leave the borders of Mexico. However, if the customer decides to leave the city of rental, he or she must consult the rental location in the city of rental prior to leaving. Rental car licenses determine the days of the week that the vehicle is permitted on roadways. Vehicles are only allowed to be driven off paved roads. Driving on beaches is not permitted.

All drivers must possess a valid credit card in his or her own name, hold a current and non-probationary license from their country of residence, or an international driver's permit in conjuntion with their drivers license. A refundable deposit will be held on the renters credit card for the duration of the rental. Minimum age is 21, maximum is 70. Renters between the ages of 21 and 24 will be required to pay an additional underage surcharge of 12.00USD plus tax per day. Additional drivers will be charged 5.00USD plus tax per day. All drivers must meet all rental requirements and have their name on the rental agreement at the time of rental.

At certain times of the year it will be necessary to provide a credit card guarantee in order to reserve a car. Certain car types may require a credit card guarantee year round. If your reservation requires a credit card in order to book, please be sure to cancel at least 48 hours in advance in order to avoid any cancellation fee. This fee compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle while it was reserved for your use. Reservations MUST be cancelled through the original booking source.

American Express, VISA and MasterCard are accepted. Renter must possess a major credit card or his or her own name, with sufficient credit for the entire rental plus any applicable taxes and fees. Debit cards are accepted but only for payment and upon return of the vehicle. Credit card requirements still apply. NU Car Rentals does not accept payments in cash. Please be advised that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy for all reservations. If you do not cancel a reservation 48 hours prior to the reserved rental date, you will be charged the equivalent of a one day rental.

All quoted rates are in US Dollars and payments will taken in the local currency. A rental day consists of a 24 hour period commencing with the date and time indicated on the rental contract. Any changes to the reservation or rental may result in a change of rate or an additional fee. There are no refunds for early returns. If you require multiple vehicles for the same dates or overlapping periods, please make sure to use the actual name of the driver for each reservation. Otherwise the duplicate name reservations will be automatically cancelled. NU Car Rentals will not be responsible for any cancelled reservations. NU Car Rentals provides a Car Rental Affiliate Reservation System and acts as an Agent for the convenience of You, the customer and the local owned and operated rental car firm. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location.
