NU Car Rentals - Jamaica Policies & Insurance

NU Car Rentals service is provided in co-operation with Island Car Rental. Upon arrival please proceed to our rental counter located in terminal of the airport. If valid flight information was not received at the time of booking, the vehicle will only be held for 2 hours after the stated time in the reservation.

3rd Party Insurance is included in the basic rental rate and covers death, injury & hospitalization for the passengers in the other vehicle, should an accident occur. It also covers damage caused by the rental vehicle to another vehicle or property. Collision Damage Waiver is not Insurance, it is a waiver. The renter is responsible for all damage or loss to the rental car. However, this responsibility may be reduced or eliminated with the purchase of CDW. CDW is optional if the renter is covered by a credit card or other type of coverage which provides full insurance coverage in Jamaica. Not all cards offer this coverage for rentals in Jamaica. It is the renter's responsibility to to check with their issuing provider before renting and bring proof of coverage. Verification by our representative may be required on arrival. It is the cardholder's responsibility to be aware of and comply with any restrictions or requirements imposed by the provider of coverage. A nominal deposit of $500.00US will be taken on your credit card at the beginning of the rental for loss or damage. In the event the loss/damage exceeds this amount, additional funds will be sought on the credit card. If your coverage is other than credit card, a deposit will be taken, contact the local office for more information. You are charged the full amount of loss/damage to the rental vehicle regardless of fault. It is the renter's responsibility to pursue reimbursement from their provider. CDW options:Limited Liability, Nil Liability(incl Tires), No CDW CDW limits your liability for loss/damage to the rental vehicle. The cost/day varies by car type. The liability(deductible) is taken as deposit which varies by car type at the time of rental. The deposit is refundable at return if there is no loss/damage. You can choose to fully eliminate liability for loss/damage including tires by purchasing an additional Waiver for "Nil" liability with tire protection. A security deposit is taken (not for damage) and returned when vehicle is returned on due date. If the renter does not wish to purchase CDW and does not have a fully covered card, a deposit for the full value of the car is taken and is refundable if there's no loss/damage to the vehicle NOTE-All waivers become void if the rental contract is breached. PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) is available at $3.00/day. Baby, Infant & Child seats are available upon request and based on availability for $5.00USD/Dy. Left and Right Hand controls are not available. GPS is available upon request for $11.00USD per day. A security deposit of $200.00 will be retained should the GPS be damaged or lost. The security deposit will be released upon completion of the rental if there was no damage or loss of the GPS. MOBILE PHONE-MOBILE PHONES ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST AND BASED ON AVAILABILITY FOR 35USD UP TO 28 DAYS AND WITH A 15USD SECURITY DEPOSIT.

Rental vehicles are rented with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank or a refuelling charge plus the cost of replacement fuel will apply.

Oneway rentals between Kingston & Montego Bay locations are available at no extra cost. Rental counter must be advised of drop at time of rental.

Rental vehicles may not be taken off the Island of Jamaica.

Minimum age is 23 yrs, maximum 75. Drivers between ages of 21- 22 yrs must pay an additional fee of $3.00USD/Dy; one additional driver allowed free of charge, any other drivers must pay a surcharge of $6.00USD/Dy per driver. Both underage & additional drivers must meet all rental agreement requirements, have a valid driver's license for at least one year, with no endorsements, and have a major credit card in their own name.

At certain times of the year it will be necessary to provide a credit card guarantee in order to reserve a car. Certain car types may require a credit card guarantee year round. If your reservation requires a credit card in order to book, please be sure to cancel at least 48 hours in advance in order to avoid any cancellation fee. This fee compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle while it was reserved for your use. Reservations MUST be cancelled through the original booking source.

Renter must present a current & valid credit card in their own name at time of rental. We accept all major credit cards. Debit cards, personal checks and cash payments are not accepted.

When arriving via cruise ship in Montego Bay, please call Island Rent A Car at or from the Information Desk at the Pier. If you are using a phone with roaming, the area code is 876. As soon as we receive the call we will dispatch a driver to pick you up and take you to the airport office to collect your vehicle. Companies are not allowed to wait at the Cruise Ship Pier. There are no refunds for early returns.

NU Car Rentals provides a Car Rental Affiliate Reservation System and acts as an Agent for the convenience of You, the customer and the local owned and operated rental car firm. We use reasonable commercial efforts to insure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms, conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the actual rental location.
