Everywhere needs a good shopping district, especially a European Capital like Dublin. Dublin shopping lives up to this requirement with not only the lively pedestrian shopping streets at the heart of the city, complete with buskers and street performers, but also a number of huge shopping centres in the outskirts offering the same excellent choice all under one roof. There are also boutiques and craft shops stocking items you know you won’t find anywhere else.

There is Grafton Street, which has Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, and Henry Street/Mary Street, with high street stores to beat the band. Nassau Street has many Irish craft and gift shops with pottery, glass, bog oak, and irish clothing in fabrics like linen, lace, tweed and wool. And don't forget the coffee, chocolates, liqueurs, whiskeys, cheeses, breads and smoked fish. Most supermarkets have good selections.

Francis Street is where you should head if you’re an antique freak. Temple Bar is Dublin’s second-hand clothes mecca and on Saturdays there is a second-hand book market on Temple Bar Square.

Grafton Street, the Westbury Mall and Powerscourt Townhouse are home to many jewellers where you’ll see a gleaming array of Celtic designs in gold and silver, and of course the Claddagh ring, the traditional Irish wedding ring. If the tiny hands point the heart towards the wearer it means they are taken.

Below are some of the shops you show head to, but this is only a taste of what Dublin has in store. You could spend days shopping the city.
