If you have a valid driver's license issued outside Québec, you are allowed to drive a passenger car without a Québec license for the first 90 days. To be allowed to drive beyond this time period, you must obtain a Québec license. All drivers and passengers in the vehicle must wear seat belts. All children must ride in federally approved child seats.

Drinking And Driving Laws In Quebec
The legal limit is .08. Quebec has a "Zero Tolerance Law" for drivers who use a learner's or temporary permit. If you are caught driving while intoxicated, your driver's permit will be suspended on the spot for 30 days if it's a first offense, and 90 days if it is a repeat offense. A first conviction will result in a substantial fine and you will automatically lose your licence for a year. You will also have to undergo a mandatory brief review of your driving skills at a special centre, to determine whether your drinking habits are affecting your ability to safely handle an automobile. If you do not perform well in the brief review, you will have to undergo a complete review. If you have a learner's permit or probationary licence and are stopped with any amount of alcohol in your blood, your permit will be suspended for three months (in addition to the immediate 30 or 90-day suspension). You will receive 4 demerit points, and fined $300-$600.
