The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.08. The province of New Brunswick has now introduced a comprehensive strategy against drinking and driving. Anyone with a breathalyzer reading more than the legal limit of 0.08mg alcohol may be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada. The police have the authority to suspend for 24 hours the driver's license of any driver found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05mg or greater. Anyone charged could also be fined or placed in jail for a length of time determined by the offense.
