Dublin has always been a place of art and culture. There is an enormous collection of art galleries and museums, all filled to the top with gorgeous artwork. There are also fine small private collections. There is so much art, and ao many Dublin museum to visit, that you may not be able to experience them all. Dublin Writers Museum
Ireland is famous for their literary tradition, with Nobel Prize winners and many other renown writers. In 1991 the Dublin Writers Museum was opened to tell the history and celebration of literary in Dublin. The Museum is an 18th century mansion in the north city centre. The collection features the lives and works of many, covering the past 300 years. You will find books, letter, portraits, and personal items of those such as Swift and Sheridan, Shaw and Wilde, Yeats, Joyce and Beckett.

Guinness Storehouse
No visit to the home of Guinness is complete without a trip to the Guinness Storehouse. Here you will discover all there is to know about the famous beer, and enjoy a complimentary pint of the world's most famous brew.

Bank of Ireland Arts Centre
This is one of Dublin's 18th century buildings that will take your breath away. It was in 1729, and was to house the Irish Parliment, until it became unnessisary when the British and Irish parliments were united in London. With its walls, there is the Irish House of Lords, where you can see the 18th century tapestries and an Irish crystal chadelier of 1233 pieces dating from 1765. There is also Foster Place, which is has an exhibition called 'A Journey Through 200 Years of History' that accounts the role played by Bank of Ireland in the economic and social development of ireland over the past 200 years.

Chester Beatty Library
Chester Beatty Library was voted European Museum of the Year 2002, as well as Irish Museum of the Year 2000. And that is no surprise, as the museum as a collection of manuscripts, prints, icons, miniature paintings, early printed books from countries across Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe like no other. Home to a great diverssity of artifacts, the collection captures human creativity from 2700 BC to the present day. There are also many featured exhibits that last for a limited time, as well as a restaurant, gift shop, roof Garden, wheelchair access, and baby-changing facilities.

The Hugh Lane Dublin City Gallery
The Hugh Lane Dublin City Gallery is full of modern art and it is the municipal gallery for the city of Dublin. There are Impressionist masterpieces by Renoir, Degas, Monet, Morisot; As well as the largest collection of 20th century Irish art, and works by contemporary Irish and International artists. A recent addition is the Studio of Francis Bacon which houses over 7,500 items. There are also lectures, tours, concerts and art workshops for both adults and children.

Hours of Operation: Tues-Thurs 9.30am-6pm, Fri-Sat 9.30am-5pm, Sun 11am-5pm. Closed on Mondays.

Irish Museum of Modern Art
The Irish Museum of Modern Art is the national institution for the collection and presentation of modern and contemporary art. There is a wide variety of art housed in a magnificent, 17th century Royal Hospital building. The grounds have a formal garden, meadow and medieval burial grounds as well as other historical buildings. It was built in 1684 as a home for retired soldiers and continued in that use for almost 250 years.

James Joyce Centre
The James Joyce Centre is dedicated to the promotion of an understanding of the life and works of the famous Dubliner. The Centre is run by members of the Joyce family, who always offers a warm welcome. The James Joyce Centre organises guided walks trough Joycean Dublin taking in well-known sites from Joyce's books and personal life.

The James Joyce Museum
The James Joyce Tower was part of the Martello towers built to withstand an invasion by Napoleon and now holds a museum devoted to the life works of James Joyce, who made the tower the setting for the first chapter of his masterpiece, Ulysses. The museum's collection includes letters, photographs, first and rare editions, and personal possessions of Joyce.

National Wax Museum
A world where fantasy and reality combine and heroes of the past and the present come alive. There is the Childrens World of Fairytale and Fantasy, the historical and cultural development of Ireland (Joyce, Yeats, and their comtemporaries), the Chamber of Horrors, and the Hall of the Megastars (Michael Jackson, Madonna and great Elvis Presley).

The Bram Stoker Dracula Experience
Offering visitors a thrilling, spine chilling experience based on Bram Stokers novel "Dracula". You are transported by the "Time Tunnel to Transylvania" to the gruesome caverns of "Castle Dracula", where you see the blood lab and lunatic asylum holding Reinfield before you reach Dracula's lair where the great Vampire lies and is protected by his brides.

The Fry Model Railway

The Shaw Birthplace
George Bernard Shaw is the 'Author of Many Plays', and you can visit the first home of the Shaw family. The Victorian building has been restored to absolute elegance and has the appearance that the family have just gone out for the afternoon. The house was first opened to the public in 1993. You will visit the drawing room where Mrs. Shaw held many musical evenings, as well as the front parlour and children's bedrooms.
